A plethora of matches on the ATP tour this week. The first round get fully underway today. Whether it is Lyon, St Petersburg or Basel there is a good betting angle.

The tennis betting fans are spoilt for choice on Tuesday when they have a look at what is on offer across the various markets. There are some easy matches, some tricky ones and the ones that are difficult to predict but instincts or luck direct which way one should go. In the three different tournaments at Lyon, St Petersburg and Basel, there are some stand-out picks that should bag neat profits for Tuesday's first round matches.

ATP St Petersburg, First Round Matches Selection

One of the standout choices in this event in Russia is Gabashvili (Russia) to beat Massu (Chile). The Russian had a great run at the US Open and can use that form to make a good run in front of his home crowd. Massu just has not done muc recently and on hard courts, he is not a solid betting proposition. In another match, Andy Murray should defeat Max Mirnyi but it might be as three-set match as everyone these days seem to take a set off the British number 1.

ATP Lyon First Round Matches Selection

The most exciting tie in the list of matches in play today is Jarkko Nieminen (Finland) taking on Robby Ginepri. Both players have not reached anywhere close to their true potential this season and as such the betting market is finding it hard to see a favourite. Nieminen does however look the right call as Ginepri has been not been playing as well as expected and does not look convincing. The plus for Nieminen is the fact that he can fight from any situation to win matches of this close nature and a previous win over Ginrepri will help his confidence as well.

Another match of interest is Paul Henri Mathieu of France facing Franck Dancevic of Canada. Mathieu is having a good time on hard court these days and will be full of belief as he made the final in Moscow recently and did well n Madrid last week. Apart from the good run in the US Open Series, Dancevic has not made much impact but can take a set of Mathieu with his big serve. A possible three set match but Mathieu to prove the stronger finisher.

Finally, Chela (Argentina) should level this series against Koubek (Austria) which is currently 2-1 in favour of the diminutive Austrian. Chela seems to like the hard court and does well on it even though clay is his better surface. As for Koubek, he might just have played too much tennis in the past couple of weeks and it is a negative factor going into this match against a well rested opponent.

ATP Basel Swiss Indoors First Round Matches Selection

Of the matches to open the Davidoff tournament, Giles Smino (France) should secure a win over the Veteran, Andrei Pavel (Romania). The huge serve of the Frenchman can help him get out of trouble and win his service games easily. Pavel will be a tough customer to breakdown but he does not have enough in his tools to wresle a win from Simon. Elsewhere, the worthy bet is to back Benjamin Becker (Germany) to take a set off Arnaud Clement of France. Becker, who is no relation to the legend, is doing well on hard courts this time of the year without winning any big matches and can compete shot for shot with the clever Clement.

These are some of the best tennis bets today in matches that offer value.
